NAAP Conference History

Have you ever wondered how we decide where to have a NAAP Conference?

The NAAP Team begins planning conferences three to four years in advance. We consider where we’ve held conferences in the past, where we have a strong concentration of NAAP members, and which destinations best meet our needs.

A location must be served by a major airline, but that’s just the beginning. We carefully evaluate guest room rates, food and beverage costs, audiovisual expenses, and whether the hotel has enough meeting space to accommodate at least three concurrent educational sessions. Just as important is having a positive, collaborative relationship with the hotel’s Event Planning team.

To help identify the best options, we partner with HelmsBriscoe, a third-party site selection company that solicits proposals based on our specific requirements. The NAAP Team then reviews the proposals, discusses the options, and ultimately selects the host hotel before contracts are finalized.

That’s the big picture. And, as anyone who has planned a conference knows, countless additional details go into creating a successful event long before attendees ever arrive.
