Spring Cleaning Your Activity Calendar
March always feels like a reset. The light changes. Residents start coming out of winter mode. Energy shifts in the building. And yet, so many activity calendars look exactly the same as they did in January.
Same programs. Same time slots. Same rhythm.
Spring cleaning is not just about closets and storage rooms. It is about stepping back and asking whether your calendar still reflects the kind of engagement you want to create.
Over time, programs get added because they are easy, familiar, or expected. Before you know it, your calendar is full but not necessarily impactful. So the first step in cleaning it up is simple. Remove what is just taking up space.
Be honest with yourself. Would you design that program today if you were starting fresh? Is it creating connection, purpose, or wellness? Or is it there because “we have always done it”?
